Alan McBride Speaking Event

Flyer and poster design to advertise a high school speaking event featuring a former drug addict and convicted criminal sharing his story of a life turned around.

I liked the B-Movie feel of how this carte blanche design turned out. The latest in a series of affiliated speaking events I have done poster designs for.

Educational CD-ROM resource for Gaelic schools

Client: Stòrlann Nàiseanta na Gàidhlig
Project: Mo Chreideamh (My Faith) CD-ROM
Status:
Completed

This was an interesting project - a presentational resource for use on touch interface SMART Boards in Gaelic Medium schools throughout Scotland.

The resource was for the Religious & Moral Education curriculum and presented information on 6 major world religions for upper Primary school level. The programme presented each religion in a section with a graphical navigation menu as well as a pictorial menu for accessing sub topics within each religion. Sub topics presented text and photo information with accompanying illustrations depicting children of each faith leading the user through the various religious aspects.

The resource was designed as a Flash based CD-ROM for use on PC or Mac systems and thereby avoiding the need for proprietary display software such as SMART or Promethean whose use varies from school to school. This had the added advantage of being accessible through a touch interface display board OR computer based cursor interface.

The graphical user interface was designed to be colourful but streamlined to provide a stimulating user experience for the target age group and maintaining a navigational logic and ease of use in the touch based presentational environment or computer screen.

Drop down notes for teachers to access more detailed notes on each topic can be accessed throughout the presentation and the CD-ROM can be copied to a computer for use as a reference resource if desired.

I really enjoyed developing this resource with Stòrlann and if my Gaelic was better I'd probably be well versed in the minutiae of all these religions by now too. Thanks to Juliet Howard who was hired to produce the terrific illustrations for this.
